Characterized the role of opioid receptors in the control of chronic pain by using transcriptomics, genetics, behavior and pharmacological approaches. The main findings demonstrated a sex-dependent contribution of microglial opioid receptors in morphine pain relief and dependence, suggesting a novel therapeutic target for opiate analgesia without the opiate adverse effects.
